The company said that it has finally fixed the problem. It gave assurance to web and iOS users that they won’t experience anything of such nature. The issue, as twitter said, was fixed on January 14. Twitter cannot ascertain how many users have been affected as of now. So, it is contacting the users one by one and turning the setting back on for the affected ones. The micro-blogging site is advising users to be on the safer side and check their privacy settings. This, according to twitter would ensure that desired preferences are reflected as they were meant to be. Twitter is now facing a privacy investigation for the protected tweets security flaw by Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC). This investigation is going on in addition to another investigation twitter is already going through. That is the EU investigation for data-collection issues under GDPR rules.
DPC head of communications, Graham X Doyle said to Bloomberg, “The DPC opened a statutory inquiry in late 2018 into Twitter’s obligation under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to implement technical and organisational measures to ensure the security and safeguarding of the personal data it processes following the receipt of a number of breach notifications from the company since May 25, 2018. This inquiry is ongoing.” For the latest gadget and tech news, and gadget reviews, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. For newest tech & gadget videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
